This garden is on a steep slope, with a thin soil, over chalk. I created terracing incorporating raised planting beds with deep soil to allow for successful planting. The terraces also create flat seating areas and allow for a contemporary pond, crossed by stepping stones between the decking and a small shady seating area.

The soil in the front garden previously struggled to support a lawn – so I replaced that with a larger drive of permeable setts (to allow water to drain through) and gravel Mediterranean style planting, better suited to the hot dry site.
